The Hot Dog Tree

I always thought that was one of the most bizarre things I've ever seen in any movie period. I vaguely remember a scene where Pee Wee serves the hot dogs to the grown ups and they turn into kids, so that they wouldn't run the circus out of town. I didn't eat hot dogs for a year after that.

But why did Pee Wee have that tree anyway? Even if these grown ups didn't give him a hard time, I almost shudder to think why he had it in the first place.

Am I the only one who thinks this?

From what I recall he was sort of a mad scientist, doing crazy things.

True.... I am accually tempted to watch it again. I liked Pee Wee's Big Adventure much better, but this was semi-entertaining too.

I still wonder what PW would've done with that tree if he didn't need it to convince the adults to just be kids again.

One theory: He eats those hot dogs by himself and he's built a tolerance to it, so rather than become a kid, he just acts like one all the time.

I recently saw this movie. Not as good as when I was a kid for obvious reasons, but in regards to the hot dog tree, Pee Wee created it in hopes of one day winning a Nobel prize. He had invented a formula that he used to water plants which would make them grow instantly almost twice their size. The goal way to stop world hunger. Then the morning after he bangs Gina, he makes another formula which fails miserably as it shrinks everything, including he beloved hot dog tree.

So I guess that means if he were to eat the fruits, vegetables or hot dogs when they were enlarged that he too would have grown older? Ya I know...does not make any sense lol.

I see now. Thanks.

No spoilers today!!

Maybe he added a formula (off screen) to the tiny hotdogs to make the town people younger...? That's what I'm going with.
