I downloaded some Austin City Limits stuff from usenet a while back: a little video grain but what the hell - it's Tom Waits!

youtube.com has some stuff. Worth watching. Not great picture quality, but hey, what do you want for nothing? Your money back?

There's a show he did in Austin in the late '70s which I've been seeing DVDs of around lately, one's called Burma Shave and the other is Live from Austin TX but they both seem to be the same concert. It's a pretty grainy VHS tape-looking transfer but the show's great.

Parts of it are knocking around on Youtube too, but the quality there's even worse. I'm glad I got the DVD.

There's also a unauthorised documentary which is mostly interviews with critics who've interviewed him over the years, so it's kind of a step removed, but there are clips of interviews with him and clips from Big Time and some Letterman show performances so it is worth seeing too. It's called Tom Waits: Under Review.
