The music!

I loved this film. The historic sets, the dazzling costumes, the dancing, but especially the mesmerizing chanting/singing and traditional Azerbaijani folk music. The audio/visual elements blended ideally with the whimsical theatre stye. It was a real treat for the senses.

I wish to find more music like this, and the unique singing. I've never heard anything like it. It's so intense and haunting.... it really moved me. Does anyone know who the composers or singers were? If you are familiar with the culture presented in this film, I would be really grateful if you could point me to some more examples.

The Legend of the Suram Fortress was also fantastic.

Ambient music fans will recognize samples from this film in Woob (Paul Frankland) tracks such as "On Earth"

I did some research and I believe this style of singing is called Mugham, albeit a more modern interpretation.
