Awful 'Joke' to Play on Fairchild

I thought the 'joke' Arthur played on Fairchild at the end was horrible. Just horrible. How can anyone, Arthur most of all, think it's FUNNY to make a man think he's FIRED and has not only lost his livelihood but his residence and reputation as well?? Also, it was the very first joke Fairchild played on him, now I bet he NEVER does it again. It's like telling a child "it's ok to have a cookie, you don't have to ask" every time they come see you, then when they finally get one without asking, to spank them and then say 'haha just kidding'. Just an awful joke to play and mean, and very very out of character for Arthur, his jokes are always harmless and funny, this was neither one.

That part pretty much ruined the whole ending and made Arthur look like an a-hole. I was still feeling sorry for Fairchild during the whole 'touching' ending scene.

Can it be that bad ?

I thought it had a nice and right touch for the ending.

Yes the joke was undeniably cruel but think its punchline (Arthur showing such love and respect for Fairchild by giving him Hobson's room and indeed place in his life) was worth the pay-off.

@Susan mj_ you're goofy, and far too thin-skinned. His joke was completely harmless, and amusing. Yeah, it seemed harsh...for about 3 minutes. Then he praised his sense of humor, and gave him his new, bigger room.

Man, why are people lacking a sense of humor these days? Dangerously over-sensitive.
