Man, I have no idea what version I have.....

I think I have the 2004 version, although I'm not sure....
How do I tell? Please help.

If it has crappy 3d graphics, then it's the 2004 version.

If it has 80's simple 2d graphics, then it's the 1988 version.

it has AWESOME 3d graphics....

No, it has crappy 3D craphics ^_^

But its still a great movie, cool music aswell.

No, the 3D graphics are really quite good. (We're talking about the 2004, here, not the '88 version)

If you think that the landscaping and textures in the War scene and the abandoned laboratory where 'crappy', you're knocking on some of the best CG environments ever produced.

Sure, some of the character shading might've been over-employed, and there might've been some 'stiff' movements (I take it they didn't use mo-caps for Hitmoi, at least :P) in the body language. And even some of the shots of Olympus made it look like a squeaky-clean over-sized doll house. It suffered from any number of things that a pioneering movie typically does.

But, taking a new method of 3D developement and producing an entire movie without any experience in such a style, and producing what they did... to say that it has 'crappy 3D graphics', and to cast it off without so much as a consideration is just a display of ignorance.

The Appleseed of this Board would be the hand drawn art version, while the 2004 Appleseed is a CG 3D graphical version. They tell very diffrent stories and the 2004 movie rally should have had some tag appended to the name to help diffrentiate the two.

e0101196 please explain why you think they are crappy, is it just a matter of taste about the cel-shading?

I think the 3D animation of the 2004 remake is awesome. Feels slightly wierd when you start watching it for the first time, but you soon get used to it and it immerses you.

no offense to the OP but are u being serious? Can you not tell the difference between 80's animation and obviously recent 3-d animation.

What's it like living in a constant haze of stupidity?

I don't have any idea why the OP thought it was crappy animation. For me, the reason I didn't like it is because of the cell-shading. I find it quite annoying.

I don't know when it got to be such a popular type of CGI, but in my opinion it detracts from the visuals more than it enhances.

Case in point, Monster Rancher (the original VG) is vastely superior in appearance than the remakes. It doesn't matter that the first was a PS1 and the rest are PS2. The sequels used cell shading.

The OP is trolling.
