this film don't feel like an 80's movie

then to other films that came out in that decade whys that you think?

reply

Well basically, anything after 1987 is basically the 90s as far as clothes, etc

reply

i meant it looked older than the 80's,+ why would anything after 1987 is basically the 90's as far as clothes, etc??? when it was still the 80's?

reply

The only people who would say that were likely born well after '87.

Exhibits A and B:
Mannequin (1987)
Teen Witch (1989)
- both about as 80s as a film could possibly get.

When you're 17 a cow can seem dangerous and forbidden...am I alone here?

reply

... because the movie was set in the 1920s, before the moon landing and when Woodrow Wilson was president. ;)

reply

@ DaB6384 i know what you mean but another 80's movie Young Guns that was also set in the past still had better production+camera quality

reply

He was being sarcastic Mike. The movie was set in the 1980's. You're not too bright, are you?

reply

but even still does not feel/look 80's + if you look at my previous posts i did say it don't look like 80's even though it is set in 80's i was just making a point about Young Guns if it had been set in 1800's

reply

Yeah, it looks a little more like early 80's or something. This is also one of the most bizarre horror movies I've ever seen.

reply

@ Doc110894 Isn't early 80's still 80's hence the 80's still being mentioned lol?or did you mean like if a film came out in early 1980 but was obviously filmed in 70's in 79?

reply

Wow, someone has GOT to put and end to this inane discussion. The movie look EXACTLY like it was shot in the 80's. The costumes, including those unfondly remembered oversized varsity jackets, look like they came right off the friggin' rack at Sears, the hairstyles did not exist in the 70s or the 90s (thankfully), and even the production values at this budget level scream 1980's. Plus, it was made in the 80's and, as mentioned above, made NOT attempt at creating a more "timeless" look as many bigger-budgeted films of the era did (which ALWAYS dictates how well remembered and received a film will be by future generations, even when they know if actually comes from a certain era). There. Done. This thread is now closed.

I always thought it was a early 80's or 70's movie juyst based on the fuzz of the camera and sound quality. I was shocked it was late 80's. The music felt more early 80's late 70's as well.

Coolestmovies I so agree with what chaosbaron is saying, your saying bout over sized jackets not everyone did-my dad had a black leather jacket in the 80's which was small and thin so confused there and bands/Artists like the police,Big Country,The smiths, Michael Jackson/Bruce Springsteen did not where oversized bloody jackets

you also said:the hairstyles did not exist in the 70s or the 90s (thankfully),

2 of those women one with long hair just has long straight hair and other one with shortish curly hair is fine but that young guy his hair and older woman is something out of a 70's porn movie: also if you look in other 80's films people like Emilo estevez,Harrison ford, Mel Gibson[Except for lethal weapon films] he didn't have any dodgy hair/ haircut, Dennis Quaid, Denzel Washington, Tom Cruise, Matthew Broderick etc
my dad in the 80's had a shaved head then later on had short spikey hair, my cousin matt just had his brushed back with Gel yea real dodgy that one[Sarcasm]

and other films that came out that year with better quality that look and feel like an 80's film: Rain man, Die Hard, Big, Coming to America, Beaches,A fish called Wanda, Bill Durham, Rambo 3, The great outdoors, Tequila Sunrise,

Midnight Run, A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master, The Dead Pool, Dead Ringers,
My stepmother is an alien,High Spirits, Above the law, Frantic, Running on Empty[ example River and Martha Plimpton hair styles were fine], Hellbound: Hellraiser II, The Accidental Tourist , The Seventh Sign,
The Good Mother
Twins
The Kiss etc- other musicians that didn't have dodgy hair in 80's Paul weller, and people in the band Madness and few from Frankie goes to Hollywood

some people had bad hair/fashion in every decade-some people had it and some people didn't end of
