Boom mic operater.

The DVD and VHS is open matte (full screen), meaning it hasn't been cropped off at the top and bottom for widescreen theatrical exhibition. If the film was in widescreen, you wouldn't see the boom mics.

HA! I saw this ten years ago and this one of the few things I remember about it! I also thought the boom was too..."strong"? at some points. Liked the movie though.
