I've seen the film before in English dub but it seems that people believe that subtitles is the real way to go to watch this film. So do I necessarily need to watch this film again in the way it was meant to be?

Hehe. If one feels like the dub version sounds or simply translates better to them, then it’s fine to stick with the dub. But otherwise I say the essence of the film is best captured in Japanese. Yes, it should be watched that way.
