Extreme/radical/fanat ical muslims say the rape is JUSTIFIED

Actually women in the Middle East (including Islamic, which is adherent to Muslim beliefs) haven't always been required to be covered from head to toe. They once wore shorts, short sleeves and alternative apparel to their code of dress now. It has only been since the takeover of Taliban in those countries that they have had to adhere yo being fully covered (even the face)..... Just FYI.

But I don't think clothing should scream 'come rape me', either. What about African tribes women whom roam completely naked? That's also their culture so showing skin to them is not sexual, whatsoever. It's natural. So, I guess the real question is what drives a person TO rape? Since cultures vary on definitions of modesty. What's modest to one may be scandalous to another, and vice versa. And it is also know of grown men (in their 40's, 50's) having sex with teenage girls (whom their parents having given to in marriage) in the Middle East because that is a cultural norm. But in the United States, we call this rape....... It could be questioned forever.

What do you mean they "shouldn't be allowed" to walk around in skimpy outfits? Does that go for men too? I live in a free country where choices on clothing are left to the individual. The price of this liberty is seeing hairy, beer bellied men in wife beaters and over-weight women in spandex, low rise plants.

No, I don't believe rape is a direct result of the clothing a woman. If it were the case that rapist are attracted to skin, women who do dress modestly or cover head to toe would be perfectly safe. That's not quite the case now is it.

You can object to exhibitionism and lack of modesty, on say an aesthetic, maybe even partly moral, basis, but why are you linking it to sexual violence? One has nothing to do with the other. Rape is a crime of violence, rarely associated with sexual passion per se, and NO woman should be held even partly accountable for any man who decides to violate her sexually, regardless of what she is wearing or how flirtatious her manner is. If she hasn't consented to sex there is nothing more to say.

1 a man can walk around with his shirt off in hot weather and small shorts and nobody cares, but a woman shows a bit of cleavage and can get called things like slut

2 All the evidence shows that there is no link between clothing and the chances of being raped. Most rapists generally target vulnerability, not clothing.

You know about Islam as much as your mother knew about contraception. . . Unfortunately.
