Muriel going to Paris - gutsy or desperate?

What do you think of Muriel's decision to follow Macon to Paris? Was that move gutsy, was she totally desperate and lacking in self-respect, or was it a little bit of both?

Probably a little of both. When she first boarded the jet, she came across as rather pathetic. Ditto for her pursuing Macon when they arrived in Paris. In the end though, her actions were shown to be a combination of intuition and courage. This is how it seemed to me, anyway.

but its sad, that he couldve taken her out to all these beautiful restarants, yet they go to burger king. that scene make sme feel sorry for her.

I hated her throughout the whole movie, and that move just sealed in my mind how annoying and pathetic and deperate she was

I am a fartist.

desperate. it's on tv right now, and i've had to stop watching...i've had enuf of her.

reply

Desperate, pathetic, and creepy. Macon had a lot of issues to work through, but he will never be free of her.

reply

I completely disagree...as Macon said, "I need her." She basically knew what to do to save him from himself, and therefore, going to Paris was just another way to show him the way through his misery. He was so shut down that he couldn't function, and she rescued him.

She knew he truly did need her.

reply

I think she understood, even though Macon himself didn't, that Macon did love her, was at his happiest with her, and needed her in his life. If she had to act stalkerish to get him to realize that then that's what she did.

reply

Gutsy! Sometimes I don't know what I want or even what I need, so I think it was great that she took the initiative to show Macon the kind of person she really was. I only wish that someone as beautiful and kind as Muriel would take the same interest in me.
