Late 1980s

Cruising the stacks of boxes at the video rental store. Anyone else remember those? For some reason I never picked this one. Flash forward a jillion years and I saw this film on TV last night and it was awful. No wonder it was always available at the store, no one wanted to rent it. I'm wondering if a movie this awful, intended for wide release, could even get made today, with the added depressing benefit of seeing a top-notch actor like Sandy Dennis at the end of her career, apparently choosing this role over becoming a hostess at Denny's (the hostess job would have been more dignified).

If they still make these sad, slapped-together films, I surely don't see them in theaters. Perhaps they wind up in those little kiosks at the grocery store or on Netflix streaming.
