Am I the only one who thought Kevin isn't a very nice person?

There are times I found him to be a very difficult person to like because he didn't strike me as a very good friend and would go off on them over the slightest things

Oddly I though Wayne was a much more likable character than Kevin although he can be a bit of a butthead at times.

I agree, i found Kevin to be an asshole alot, like the episode "Hero" where he and his dad went to see a basketball game, and because his dad didn't worship the player Kevin liked, Kevin treated him like shit for it.

And another episode when they went fishing and Jack was just fantasizing about moving up near the lake and building a cabin, Kevin went off on him "Give it up dad, you aint ever moving up here". Sure Kevin was aggravated at the time but his dad was just dreaming and not giving Kevin any reason to go off on him liek he did.

Then Kevin approached that player following a game and was in turn treated like shit by the guy. It was a good episode.

That's Jesus!

I think that’s just being a realistic kid

Kids who are brighter than their peers often are cast as if they are jerks. Smart kids (not academically) see the world differently, like Juno. Some kids do it for status, but I observed and tried not to make waves.

i'll never understand why people come to these boards complaining about these things, the show is very very realistic, we can identify with it, because 75% of what happens in the show happened to us. the show tells the story of a kid growing up, thru puberty, love, loss, hope, expectations, failure, win, loss... whatever...

Kevin was a kid, kids don't know how to handle relationships like adults do, their brains aren't as developed, did kevin know how to react when pauls dad was doing better than jack? no! because he's a kid, so he gets jealous and reacts in ways he shouldn't.

thats what the show was about, the awkwardness of growing up, learning from your mistakes. if you expect every single character on shows to be nice guys and perfect in everyway then i dont know what to tell you! you must be very young too!

You're right when Kevin was a kid, but in the episode Hero he was old enough by that point and should have been decent enough not to treat his dad like shit over him not liking the same player as he did. I know i wouldn't have treated my dad like that over something so dumb when i was that age.

that episode was a little deeper and more complex than that, rememeber that sometimes these things, like kevin treating his father badly is just a way of driving the episode towards something.

you mention a great episode, kevin really starts to worship the basketball player, the guy is a hero, then he loses a game and kevin loses faith in him, thats what klds think like! they don't understand that tomorrow is another day, that one loss isn't the end of the world. they can't understand the complexity of these things, maybe this basketball player went on the be an NBA star....

this episiode allows kevin to learn something, he worships the basketball player then loses faith based on one loss. but over supper with his father, he sees the bigger picture, he sees in jack a hero, a hero that puts food on the table, that has raised a beautful family, and is a hero every single day. he sees the bigger picture.

and believe me! you did something that dumb! so did i!

No way. Kevin had his idiot moments but doesnt everyone. Wayne was a complete douche for the first 3-4 seasons. Watch it again

Well said. I agree

We weren't all nice people, at once.

Nah, he's not a bad person. He has flaws and can be selfish like anyone else, but he's faaaar from a bad guy.
