I completely agree. Clive Anderson is a much better host than Drew Carey (we KNOW the points are pointless, you don't need to tell us every 2 minutes!)
The show was a lot sharper and ruder in the UK - Greg and Clive chatted about this on Clive's chat show. When Josie went over to the US one she made a comment about recipes for your pussy and that was bleeped - it wasn't even that rude!
I'm not anti American or anything - I think that Ryan and Greg are some of the best people on Whose Line, but I'd much much rather see them working with Josie, Paul, Tony or Jim (Sweeney) than Wayne, Chip or Brad. Would you ever have seen Josie pretending to be a penis and Tony asking if she was Princess Margaret on the US one?! But I expect that the Americans who moved over to the US show, particularly Greg and Ryan who worked on the show most (but also Colin and the others) knew that what a British audience found funny, an American audience didn't. We have different cultural signifiers, which makes different things funnier.
I just prefer the unpolished, raw version.

it's really difficult to compare the two because it started in different times with different hosts and cast members.
But they never censored naughty language on the orignal UK version
(Tony Slattery was even allowed to scream at Clive Anderson to " *beep* OFF!" un-bleepeed for God's sake..)
And the much later American remake of Whose Line was the one that censored anyone saying anything vaguely rude or naughty.
You'd like to think a much-later remake of a popular show from another country would at least be more advanced and intelligent regarding it's censorship policy . But sadly not US Whose Line.

That was hilarious! And Greg's reaction "I can't believe what I've just seen!!"
What I also prefer about the British one is that if something goes a bit wrong - like the hoedown they often leave it in, whereas if the US one goes wrong they redo it. And Greg and Clive's friendship is unbeatable!
Greg actually said in an interview with Clive that the US one was different and suffered because of the censors - "we can't be as sassy as we can on the island!"
