Would you have voted Labour.....

....as represented by Harry Perkins? Personally, I would not and I doubt if Britain ever would. After all, when presented with a manifesto of a similar tone in 1983 in the real world, the Labour Party received its lowest share of the vote since the First World War.

Mostly due to the sabotage of the SDP defectors and its interaction with the corrupt and undemocratic FPTP system, which is more bent than the Acerbo Law. Britain has never had a democratically-elected government.

I'd have voted for Isla Blair though, even if it had been a long time since she researched a significant outbreak of troilism in West Bromwich.

While I would agree that the SDP-Liberal Alliance naturally played a significant part in affecting Labour's vote, I'd say the substantive effect on Labour's performance was its shocking manifesto.

You're right a truly left-wing Labour government will never win the general election, more's the pity, precisely because of the right-wing media monopolies, controlled by Rupert Murdoch and other non-domiciles, who basically dictate the pubic debate.

Ed Milliband, who hopefully will win in May (or at the very least, become head of the largest party and thus able to form a coalition will the Lib Dems and Greens etc), is about as left-wing as the leader of a major party is allowed to be in the UK.
