I have faith. Yes, the Farina version was shitty. But the original show was literally perfect. And a lot of good people are involved with this.
You need a host with a creepy voice and charisma like Stack. That's going to be difficult. Also, you just know they're gonna do full-on dramatisations of the stories instead of simply images accompanying the narration.
And one case per episode? What a waste. Look, I'm glad unsolved cases are getting attention, but I have my doubts about its entertainment value. I might prefer Disappeared.
Regarding "full- on dramatizations instead of simply images," how long has it been since you last revisited the original series? Reenactments were a staple of the show from the very beginning. Are you remembering it as a Ken Burns documentary with Stack just narrating over still photos and the occasional talking head or something?
Regarding one case, that gave me pause as well. It's certainly a departure from the original series. I think I'd prefer three to four as the original did, but perhaps the idea is to go deeper.
No, I remember a show where we saw actors portraying the events with the focus on the narration and interviews and hardly any dialogue being heard. Nowadays we get these dramatized (and even fictionalized) minimovies. When was the last time you saw a crime show?
I could do without the lost loves and UFO stories, but at least spend that time on other unsolved murders or disappearances.
The last true crime show I watched was The Innocent Man. If you're not familiar with it, it's based on John Grisham's only true crime book. It features reenactments, but no dialogue.
I'm with you in the lost loves, but the UFO and other paranormal stories are among my favorites.
In any case, I'd say be optimistic and go in with an open mind. There's no point in deciding ahead of time that you already hate it.
Stratego has a point. This sounds like a version of what they do on Investigation Discovery. I enjoyed the interviews with witnesses and victims on the old show, I can´t see myself watching an hour-long dramatized re-enactment of one case.
The changes to the Farina version were bad but basically it was just old Unsolved Mysteries with a new host and new music, this honestly sounds worse than the Farina version.
I don't think we have nearly enough information at this point to draw any conclusions or have any assumptions.

It does suck it's only one case per episode, though. My guess is that they only have a handful of cases that are ready for production and they are trying to get an entire season from those cases. But who knows.
The guy who narrates some of the Geico commercials has a very similar Robert Stack voice, that may be an option lol.
