Why did they think it was a good idea to recast Becky in S6?

I've never liked that they did that, whats even worse is they got rid of her and brought back the original Becky later on, so we had some stand in replacement actor for Becky for like 2 seasons and then the original actress came back. That was so stupid to do that, just recast the role of Becky after we had 1 actress playing her for 5 seasons straight.

They even wrote Becky off having her move in with Mark in season 5 to Minneapolis i think it was. So i don't get why they got so anxious and couldn't stand it without Becky so much so they found another actress to play her.

And nothing against Sarah Chalke but she was a terrible Becky and didn't resemble Lecy in the slightest nor did she sound like her, it was just really baffling that they wanted the audience to accept this random person as Becky as if we wasn't supposed to notice its totally not Becky.

I mean was the character of Becky really that crucial that they couldn't wait 2 seasons for Lecy to be able to come back?

I have NO idea! By that point Becky was out of the picture having moved away with Mark. They could have mentioned her and not shown her. Other shows simply write out a character when the actor leaves.

In the old "My Three Sons" when the actor who played Mike, Tim Considine, left, he was written out and they came up with another son, the adopted Ernie. That was in keeping with the title, "Three" sons.

In the case of Roseanne they could have waited until or if Lecy Goranson wanted to return. It would've been totally plausible for them to talk about her or mention a letter or phone call. But she was living out of state, so it wasn't odd for her not to be around.

The show did acknowledge the new Becky in a funny, tongue in cheek way. The family was watching an episode of Bewitched and they talked about the new replacement for Darrin. Jackie said that it was a hit show and they knew they could do whatever they wanted.

Sarah Chalke said that she preferred the NEW Darrin.

I did think she was okay. Her Becky was different, but she grew on me. What I found oddly disruptive and hard to accept was when old Becky popped up for a few episodes and then left again.

In an episode when Roseanne was pregnant and Becky walked in the door, her mom yelled, "Where the hell have YOU been?" It was one of those "breaking the fourth wall" moments. She was gone, then back, then gone again. Just weird!

Lecy Goranson went to college.

There was more to it than just college. There was a little bit on scandal on the set. Nothing major, just some hurt feelings.
