How was Bev's mother still alive?

Bev herself looked like she was 65 or 70 years old, so how in the hell does it make sense that her mother would still be alive? If she was you'd think she would be about 90 or close to 100 but she looked to be about the same age as Bev, so what did she have Bev when she was 12?

I think the two actresses were close to each other's age, but in reality she could still be alive and be Bev's mother because Betty White is 96. If Betty had kids they could be about 75 or older.
