Dwight was a chauvinist schmuck!

Did he ever appear again after the first season's "Saturday"? I dont remember. He was a disgusting sexist who lived with his mother and only cared about his hardware store, cars, drinking beer, and scoring with chicks. I know he helped Dan out at first with getting him a few jobs, but he was a real annoying one-dimensional character who wasn't well developed at all. I guess that was the idea for him, but still, I'm glad that Jackie gave him the brush-off. And that laugh of his, my God! They wanted to show the polar opposite of Dan and how ignorant and insensitive some guys are, I guess. Good riddance to that jerk!

He was at the bar with the gang for Dan's birthday. That's the only other episode I personally recall him being on.

reply

He was what he was and there were such guys in towns such as Lanford back then and there probably are such guys today. In that respect it was fair to show a character like Dwight on the show. Also, I thought William Sadler did a good job with the character and used that appearance to go on to more high profile roles.

reply

Exactly. He wasn't a monster, just a sign of the times and location. I always found the actor handsome in a slightly (redneck) way lol... he was pretty cute in the 1994 "Tales from the Crypt: Demon Knight" movie! Such a great '90s horror gem, by the way.

reply

he just likes to keep his money neat, is all.

all he wanted to do was give it to jackie

He was a bit of a creep. He reminds me of Pete who was also a character in season 1. He worked at Wellman's and was only in a handful of episodes. But he came off in the same way. They probably would have gotten along really well haha.

He's a great actor, did you see him in Die Hard?

reply

I wasn't talking about William Sadler, the actor. I was talking about his character on this show. And yeah I saw Die Hard. So what?

reply

Wow, the rudeness is fucking unnecessary dude. That person asked a simple, very benign question and you lash out like a bully. Oh, wait, I recognize the username now. I see you’re still a cocksmith to everyone for no reason still.

reply

I hated how they 'made' Dwight into an ass. His character started out silly but good natured.
It was only when Roseanne started declaring war on anything with testicles that even Dwight had to become a schmuck.
The way Dwight spoke to Jackie in the driveway was so over the top. Even the actor looked uncomfortable.

I'd say this cloud is Cumulo Nimbus.
Didn't he discover America?
Penfold, shush.

reply

But he was in the middle of the first season and didnt appear again after that, I thought. Roseanne started her war on the male gender THAT early? Wow, news to me.

reply

Not as thoroughly as she did later I agree, but I never got the impression that Roseanne liked men all that much.

It's a show made by someone who hates men. There are going to be some characters who are designed to make men look bad.
