I'll miss you Roseanne Message Board People!

I have enjoyed talking about the random and fun world of Roseanne with you! This is very sad. I'll especially miss discussing the holiday-themed Roseanne episodes. I wish you all peace, love, and luck in a post-message board world! :-)

It's a major drag. This was such a nice, active little community. Says a lot about the show's endurance that people are still talking about it on here actively almost 20 years after it ended. I'm sure other '90s sitcom boards (Simpsons and Seinfeld aside) are not as active as this one.

Best of luck to everyone in the future. 

yeah, there was a show from ten years ago, the board is dead and the site has chopped it down to seven...oops, FIVE posts at the moment. the follow up series board is just as dead, but it still has two pages of threads.

besides if not for forums like this, how can Hollywood gauge interest in revivals/remakes/new projects???

or even buzz on CURRENT or IN PRODUCTION projects???

Ditto.

I can't believe IMDB.... do they really think that people DON'T enjoy discussing their favorite films, tv and actors on this site? I thought most people did! Sheesh. How ELSE are we gonna chat about these things???

reply

What a *beep* thing to do!!

reply

Seriously. WHERE ELSE am I supposed to discuss a new or old movie/TV show with OTHER fans?? I'm not that savvy, so if I overlooked a website of equal standing, enlighten me....

Ugh! Like I said: this is going back to pre-internet days again! LOL!

Pretty much the majority of the comments I have read here and other places have said that. This is a very poor move on their part that's for sure. I understand there are a lot of trolls but that's why they have moderators. Now they want people to go and post on their social media? When going to a board specific for a show or Actor is far easier.

I didn't post a lot here but I always loved reading the Roseanne boards.

If anyone has a facebook a guy started a group for people to discuss alternatives sites.

And the thing is, I've always had much more negative experiences discussing things at places like Facebook. And you can't really discuss things as well outside of an actual messageboard anyway.

I've always liked checking out a show or movie's messageboard on here, even if I rarely contributed to a discussion (I mean I just joined some months ago after lurking for years). I just liked to see what other people thought, or to see if someone had an explanation for something I didn't understand, or if they caught some detail I hadn't noticed. That's way harder to do without these boards. Plus, I'm sure the less popular stuff isn't going to get discussed AT ALL on social media, even though on here you can usually find at least one thread going for everything.

This really stinks. And also that they're just taking the whole thing down so you can't even read through the archives?

me too. anytime i watch a movie or tv show, old or new . i always come to imdb to read what others said about the show or movie. to share my opinion and see from others point of view.

sure i have come across some jerks and trolls but that is any site . some people have no lives and like to be rude to people online

I Will miss all of you.. This is a great board with smart people on it.. I have learned so much since being on all the boards and learning about other peoples opinions and insights.. The imdb will regret this decision and I hope they see the light and reinstate the boards..

good luck to all of you

Have to be patient and see. So far the 32nd is coming, but if traffic dried up maybe they will reverse it. The worst thing is making a new account again

reply

Well if it makes you feel any better, I've been here since September of 2001. So 15.5 years.

yeah, I just saw the announcement. what in the actual F???
the boards are 99% of why I even bother with this site!

the rest is birthdays and "who was that guy/girl?" as I get most of my "Hollywood" info from other sites.

one of my main pages was the poll forum, then they killed that for a coupe months, and when they brought it back, you had to go through the poll to the results, then the direct page for discussion on THAT particular topic before you could navigate to the open poll forum itself. there were VERY few visits to that forum after that mess. and sometimes the poll doesn't change or gets hijacked for days on some awards topic.

throughout it all, Roseanne board was always a mainstay of my daily visits, even if I didn't comment, I was reading most of the threads here over the years.

at least I still have John's fb fanpage....
(waits for Cory to kill that, too, just like Bob [s]killed[/s] "took the original fansite down for repairs"!)
