Okay, you have to admit this show was totally kick-ass...

I mean, c'mon! Shaggy's cute nerdy-ness, Velma's HUGE glasses, and that way she walked where her legs moved so fast they were blurred, the way Fred would come up with those stupid accusations, and Red Herring! Red freaking Herring, man. Awesome. I grew up with this show. You just can't go wrong.

Aye, sea turtles.

it's been a while since this post, but i have to say I love this show! just got through watching it on cartoon network, it brings back some great childhood memories!

i'm an addict for dramatics, i confuse the two for love.

reply

haha really...? i thought this was the worst on of the take-offs of the origional series...

reply

oh, definitly. i LOVED this one. daphne always has her beauty problems too. even if its just her lack of "beauty sleep" :)

I have to say I love this show, as well as I like the original series and the other spin-offs. "A Pup Named Scooby Doo" was different from "Scooby Doo Where Are You?" but that's not a bad thing in my opinion. It is the funniest Scooby Doo series of them all for me. The villains were all created with comedy in mind; and their names too (Chickenstein took the cake for me); I also loved the music themes from the chase scenes in every episode. I guess - in the end - it's about what you expect from a Scooby Doo cartoon : comedy, adventure, thrills or a bit of all. This one had 90% comedy and I thought it did pretty good in that aspect (just like "The Thirteen Ghosts Of Scooby Doo" had a much darker tone (and when I was younger there were some bits that even scared me a bit).

Man I havent seen this show seens I was little.
I think its funny that it ended before i was born(I was born in 1992).
I remember watching this before I had to go to preschool:]

reply

Oh yes, Red Herring. Ironically, wasn't he ACTUALLY the villain one time (of course, this was also the one time Fred didn't accuse him)?

reply

I thought this show ruined Fred actually.

reply

And nobody deserved it more. The Fred of the older shows was an unfunny, pompous, obnoxious ass--the self-proclaimed "leader" of the gang.
A PUP NAMED SCOOBY DOO really cut him down to size, hilariously. And in later toons, he mellowed and became much more human.

reply

More human as in dumb/stupid/incompetent?

reply

Where is he dumb/stupid/incompetent?
I was referring to WHAT'S NEW, SCOOBY DOO? and such films as SCOOBY DOO AND THE ALIEN INVADERS (I loved how Fred broke down in tears as Shaggy and Scooby bid farewell to their ladies), SCOOBY DOO ON ZOMBIE ISLAND, etc.
Freddie was truly human in those productions, meaning he was capable of emotion and weakness.

"A Pup Named Scooby Doo" was absolutely horrible. It created too many errors that later material ("What's New Scooby Doo" and the movies come to mind) followed as gospel while ignoring the original material. It sounded interesting when it first was advertised, but after about the first four or five episodes I was tuning it out as a cartoon to see.

reply

a pup named scooby doo was awesome. i might go out and buy it at target lol. but seriously i might.

reply

The show is actually pretty funny and still consider them to be comics. However I was just wondering if this version was a prequel to the 1969 version or a reimagined version of it.

I will admit that even though the show was more comical in tune than the original series but it did have a lot of good moments especially when Daphne despised dirt and dust. Fred constantly accusing red herring of being the ghost.

reply

Fred accusing Red Herring of being the ghost or the culprit was hilarious. No matter what it was about, for Fred, it always led back to Red Herring somehow, LOL! I LOVED this show and I grew up with it. It's a classic, not as great as Scooby-Doo or the The 13 Ghosts of Scooby-Doo with Vincent Price but it was great. Flintstone Kids as well as Tom & Jerry Kids were excellent too!

Good god, get over yourself. You're looking for continuity in the Scooby-Doo franchise??? You're taking it way too serious. Most spin-offs were so horrible, I'm not even sure why you would want to acknowledge them. This was one of the best spin-offs, a cute spoof that's mostly directed at kids (but still watchable for adults).
