Cards on the Table

I recently re-read Cards on the Table and followed that up tonight by re-watching the Poirot episode.

Not sure what they were going for with this one. While the general idea of the story is intact, a great many of the details are changed, including significant details. Characters are turned gay for no reason. Motivations are changed. Attempted murders by one character in the book are handed off to the opposite character. And so on.

Not only that, but Christie's playful tone in the book is absent.

A bit of a mess, really.
