Am I the only one who watches this on Netflix and...

Skip all the sketches before and during the movie? I just want to watch the crappy movie and hear them riff on it. The rest bores me.

I enjoy the sketches. More so during the Mike years. Always seem they were doing something lame brain. Like the time the power went out on the SOL and the bots resorted to looting. Crow looted his own tv and Servo looted Mike's empty pop bottles n' cans.

The sketches are the weakest part of the show.

The sketches are fucking gutbusting. Get a sense of humor.

Prob the biggest appeal of this show is that it feels like i'm right there with the gang watching the movies. There really is no more perfect show to watch if youre feeling lonely some night, as it truly does create the illusion that you're right there stuck in that satellite of love with em. LOVE that aspect of the show. That's the biggest reason why i cant get into the riffrax or cinematic titanic stuff, same people and same wit involved, but it's a TOTALLY different thing nevertheless. Blows my mind anybody would skip the sketches. Are they often dumb, def, but it still helps create that before mentioned atmosphere and they DO in fact have some HILARIOUS ones.

Hired! The Musical is pretty amazing you gotta admit.

I don't enjoy the sketches as much on the revival series but they aren't bad to the point I skip them.

I love the host segments. Not so much the early Joel invention exchange ones but rather the ones that have the bots becoming one of the characters in the movie like when Crow became a Valerian during Space Mutiny. It's brilliant because they continue to mock the movie on a visual level that can't be done inside the SOL theater. Every second is spent pounding on the movie and I love it.

MST3K on Netflix and Rifftrax on Amazon Prime make sure I have something to enjoy all the time. I just wish Netflix would release a new set of classic episodes soon. I haven't seen any of the Revival eps yet. I guess I'm afraid they won't measure up to the classic great ones.

Look into "Pluto TV". I have it as an app on my Roku (I am sure it is available on other formats). It basically has a lot of streaming channels of which one is "MST3K" and the other is "RiffTraxx". These channels show MST3K and Rifftraxx films all day.

Just installed it, thanks! I also subscribed to Shout Factory too. For anyone that's interested, there are some great MST3K blooper reels on YouTube. The one where Torgo (Mike) slowly shuffles up to the Mads to deliver a pizza that ends with all of them cracking up is my favorite.

You are very welcome, glad I could help.

I enjoyed the sketches on the old show.

Haven't seen the revival yet, though.

The riffing on the bad movies has always been the main attraction, but the skits are what make them family.

reply

This. While I agree with the post, I still enjoy the skits before, after, and in between. They can be pretty funny. I do prefer just riffing the movie over the skits. If it was just the riffs and no skits, then it's still a successful show that could've survived. you can see that with rifftrax. If it's just the skits, would it have been as good? Well, who am I to say? So, either way I wouldn't mind if they were skipped, but I also like sitting down and watching them.
