This is one revival I might watch

I am really not super happy about every show or movie that was popular 25 - 30 years ago getting a revival (or so it seems), but in the absence of originality, I might give this one a go.

it would work if they did it like 'the next generation' and had her son and Miles and Corky's daughter...etc in the FYI newsroom

Avery is now the secretary and Sherwood-Silverberg is the boss and VERY self-confident. Not either ditzy or neurotic like her parents.

Star trek TNG worked bc they did not bring back all original cast. The creators had enough confidence in themselves and the viewers to go into new arcs and bring us along.

How did they handle Eldin's absence? Did they have the character die like they said they were going to do with Phil?

Yes, they mentioned him very quickly in one scene between Avery and Murphy saying they missed him.
