Why did they redo old episodes

I just watched the first two the killer and the system and I don't understand why they redid all those old episodes. I can understand if they were gonna make them better or add a better twist or make them more intricate using more up to date technology but that was not the case from what I"ve seen so far. While the episodes are very good, they pale in comparison to the old versions. Were they short on ideas so they had to rehash the old stuff? A lot of the elaborate stuff that was used for trickery and other things to set up the mission to succeed were gone.
