Remember with Richard Kester and the White People's Coalition neo-nazi types. When they have the children sing in that room in the ship....does anyone know what that german song is called?
shareThe great censorship in germany striked back. This was (and still is) the only episode, which was never aired. I wish I could tell you the song's name. BTW: most of the german MI fans didn't like this episode - said that was too stereo typical and not really worth to see it.
Note from a screencap of a german MI fanpage: There's a goof in the scene with Tony Hamilton, where he wore a uniform with a patch called "blud und boden" (blood and soil) - a writing error for blood :D - the correct orthograhy is "Blut" with a "t" instead of a "d".
Not true. The episode in the 1988 version was shown during its original run in Germany. It is possible that there was slight censorship (removed scenes are common, since the runtime during the 80s was usually longer than the timeslot reserved on German TV, and intentional mistranslation during dubbing). It's been too long since I saw the episode, so I do not know what the song was.
I do not know if the original 1966 version of the episode was shown in Germany when "MI" was first shown there during the early 70s (probably not, since only 50 of the 171 episodes were shown initially, and I do not recall any 1st season episodes with Briggs). It was shown, accurately (except for the dubbing into German, with no translation censorship), with no censorship, during one of the reruns around 2000.
At this time, a lot of older TV shows were rerun in Germany on commercial TV channels, with a lot of the earlier editing/censorship restored, and included originally not broadcast episodes, with new dubbing. The reason for not broadcasting were mostly not censorship (though this happened, and a lot of Nazi themed episodes were not shown), but financial. The deals at the time involved single episodes, and German public broadcasting (the only form that existed till the 80s) could not make enough money to afford complete series with dubbing.
In the episode they say it as something like "blud und eisen" and translate it as blood and iron.
I've got this episode on tape somewhere, but don't know how I'd figure out what song they're singing, it being in German and all.

"Blud" is a Gellerism zat looks wery much like "blood" verass "blut" vould not bee zo quickly translated by zee Amerikanisch viewer.

I was embarrassed for the episode but not because of its depiction of the germans.I was embarrassed because of that scene where the scout leader (who was really nickolas in disguise) gives the kids a 30 second pep talk & just like that every thing they had been taught about hate was forgotten? As if that wasnt corny enough they bring grant in to teach the kids about martin luther king.It didnt even feel like mission impossible anymore, if felt like a bad PSA share
