Season 2 - What happened?

I've been watching the start of season 2 and after the premiere it seemed to go downhill fast. Jim's character seems to be dumbed down, stories aren't as interested and theirs a lot of tranquilizing people rather than outsmarting them and working around problems. I just watched the space shuttle episode, does it pick up from their?

Not really. The second season was not strong in terms of storytelling. Lapses began appearing in many of the plots (some of which border on the outlandish). Despite competent performances from the cast, the scripts were the weak link in the series. Combined with the fact that ABC shift the show from Saturday nights to Thursday's opposite NBC's juggernaut "The Cosby Show", M:I was done and dusted by the end of it's second season......

To say that the second season wasn't good is an understatement. Most of the episodes were just plain awful. For instance, there's the episode where an American woman marries a European Prince but speaks with an Australian accent. And the one that was set in Ireland but everyone speaks with an Australian accent. If my dear departed Irish mother had seen this episode, it would not have ended well.

Unfortunately not. They had an episode that was set in Ireland, and if my Irish born Mother had of seen it, let's just say that it wouldn't have ended well.
