Midnight Caller dvd, moving up the list

I have just registered and voted on www.tvshowsondvd.com, Midnight Caller is now 401st on the list.

How long do we have to wait for this fantastic show to be released.

but Lifetime can keep running the golden girls over and over and over again and not pick this back up again. maybe nick tvland would run the show.

Somebody has to pick this up, surely? It's too good to leave lying around gathering dust, especially when you see some of the rubbish that's aired over and over again!

Going to register on tvshowsonDVD and try and kick it a bit further up the list!

So still a while to go...

I seriously doubt Warner will take that site into consideration any more. Perfect Strangers was the number 1 requested TV release for a long time, so they put out season 1 and 2(they're really short) and..... it bombs. They never release any more. It's been 2 years.

reply

I went to the company SHOUT FACTORY,typed in the title, and it's 132nd.
I can not,for the life of me, figure out why we can't get it on DVD. And it's not available online anywhere!
It was such a terrific show!!! Every time I see Gary Cole I miss it all over again.

reply

Yes, I think later generations will look back with astonishment that a classic show like Midnight Caller never got a well-deserved DVD release, but the population was unleashed by the humour of Screech in Saved by the Bell boxed sets.

reply

Not a fair comparison at all.

Saved By The Bell has always done very well in syndication. There's pretty much never been a time it WASN'T on TV since the show began. Everyone knows about that show.

Midnight Caller? It's never been syndicated in the US since 1994. Ask pretty much anyone about the show and nobody knows of it. That's why there isn't a DVD release, coupled with the expensive music rights.

Just added my vote, moved it up one point to 58th.

One of my all time favourite TV shows.

Less than 1200 voters only proves less than 1200 people will buy the show. That's a very low number. We'll need about 20,000 for them to take notice.

reply

Sadly, I don't think we'll ever reach that. I wonder if that is the minimum to make it profitable or if they ever make prestige releases of shows they are proud of (assuming they are proud of the show, they should be).

I doubt WB even knows they own the show. They`ve released some shows that were highly requested, then they sold poorly and never released any of the following seasons.

Wouldn`t that be worse? They release season 1, then it sells awful and they don`t bother with 2 and 3.

I have some great recordings of the show from broadcast, so I have those to tide me over.
