bull on dvd release

Ok they say they can't release and official dvd of just the ten of us because of the girls singing other singer's songs, i think that is bull, if that was the case or the problem then glee season dvd would not be release and there already up to season 3...... think about that

The way the rights are paid for are different now. Now that we have DVD technology, when they get the rights to a song, it includes DVD release. Back when this show was produced, the rights were only given for the show to air on television.

Jen_78 is correct. Studios now have the foresight to clear music rights for DVD releases. Unless an old show is popular, a major studio like Warner Bros. isn't about to spend a ton of money to get song rights.

JTTOS was popular for its time and still has its fans but I doubt the DVD would sell enough to warrant Warner to go through all the trouble. They'd rather spend time focusing on shows that bring in big bucks like The Big Bang Theory.

I think a DVD release could happen though. China Beach was finally released on DVD despite the fact that it features a ton of copyrighted music so it's possible that some other company could pick up the rights.

If that's the case because of the music. Then just change the songs like they did with Beverly Hills 90210 DVD release. Sure it won't be the same but at least we get something to watch. I miss this show

This isn't like changing background music, the girls are onstage performing A LOT in the later episodes as their singing group was basically the main focus of the show for awhile.

To release a DVD of the series they'd either have to pay the music licensing fees or ignore these episodes completely, there's really no other option.

Shout! Factory should get the rights to this show and release it, like they did with WKRP the entire series, with most songs intact.

I don't know what songs were featured on WKRP as I've never watched the show, but the Lubbock Babes performed some of the best known (and probably most expensive to license) songs of the classic rock era. And unless there are full scenes in WKRP of people singing the songs on camera then it seems like it would be easy to replace the music if you had to. The Lubbock Babes singing them on stage however? Not one song could be replaced without it looking like Godzilla-style dubbing.

I'll grant that if there's a sliver of a chance then only Shout! Factory could (or would) do it. Maybe if they get enough requests for the show then they'll look into it. Otherwise we'll have to wait for the inevitable time that the few big corporations left have merged to the point where they already own the show AND all the songs featured.

No need to pay licensing fees to yourself!

Good Points all around!
WKRP had a lot of popular songs; however were only used in the background and other short snippets. The song use was much more prominent in the 2nd and 3rd season of Just the 10 of us, especially with the Lubbock Babes story lines.
Hm....time tos tart making requests to Shout! Factory!!!
