Episode search.... Might be putting parts of two episodes...

Althea and another woman are in a car with a killer/psycho. can't remember if the woman was a willing accomplice or a hostage.

They're in the country at a cabin. I can't remember how the cops find them, but they do.

Being that it's his wife, Virgil wants to shoot the maniac (If memory serves, since I barely remember the episode). Gillespie, if memory serves, pulls Virgil back, letting Bubba take a shot, and Bubba nails the psycho.

"......And Then You Die" season 1 episode 8. Gillespie and Tibbs goes after a robber/murderer who kills a female jukebox owner and her grandson was hiding under the bar. Virgil and Althea takes the boy in. Althea and the boy (Scotter) are kidnaped while at the lake fishing when I believe Lester and his girlfriend needed a getaway car, he took them to keep them quiet.

Althea, Scotter and Lester's girlfriend tries to escape but he ends up grabbing Althea while the others got away. Gillespie let's Bubba take the shots at Lester and not Virgil. Bubba got him of course.

The girlfriend in the episode was played by a very young Mariska Hargitay. its weird watching this episode now seeing her in a completely different kind of role.

Truly shows just how great and dynamic an actress she is. She was real believable and in the end it wasn't over the top and seemed real.
