Which channel did this come on when originally on the air?

When this was on in the 80's what t.v. station (ex. NBC, CBS) did this come on? I was only about six when this was on the air originally and until earlier this year I did not know it existed. I have since fallen in love with its cornyness! Thanks for the answers.

It was nationally syndicated. It aired on different stations throughout the country. Here in Michigan it aired on ABC Ch. 7 on late Friday nights at 1 am.

In NY it came on either WWOR (Ch. 9) or WPIX (Ch. 11). I loved watching this show. Would stay up all night waiting to watch it.

Here it aired on WVAH TV 11 on Friday night at midnite after The Arsenio Hall Show

I kind of remember that. Unfortunately for me, since I was still pretty little, I'd have to sneak it whenever I could. It does seem almost hard to believe that there was once a time in my life when I had to do things like that. Weird

THanks, I was wondering the same thing!

I'm from the DC area and when this series was first coming on I was about 5 or 6 years-old and I use to sneak and watch it. Anyway it use to air in DC on WDCA-20 (My 20 now) on Saturday nights and it use to air in Baltimore on WNUV-54 (CW 54 now) on Saturday afternoons.

Freddy used to air on WB64 in Cincinnati where I lived at the time. I remember watching it every Saturday at 11:00pm.

In Chicago, it aired on our NBC affiliate (WMAQ 5) right after "Saturday Night Live".

In Fayetteville NC it came on Fox 22 out of Raleigh on Sunday nights after Friday the 13th: The Series. Friday came on at 11:00 and Freddy's Nightmares came on at 12:00.

Later on for some reason, they changed the schedule somewhat: Sunday nights still, but Tales from the Darkside at 11:00, Freddy's Nightmares at 12:00, Monsters at 1:00, and finally Friday the 13th at 2:00 am. Needless to say, I was only about five or six when it was on, so I didn't get to see a lot of them unless my dad taped it for me the night before.

I don't remember what channel it came on, but it did come on quite late though.

I saw the show when it was on back in the late 80s ( I was a little kid) but I remember here in southern california it aired on channel 9,,,and it came on at 10, or 11pm on Saturday nights....I remember before it came on they always played the viewer desretion warning before the show ~

There were some areas where it came on affiliate stations of NBC, ABC or CBS, but those were few and far between. The overwhelming majority of channels that aired it were affiliate stations of what would become FOX, WB or UPN(and later WB & UPN would merge & split into CW & MyNetwork)

Here in the Phoenix area, it used on air on channel 45(now MyNetwork 45) on Saturday nights at about 11pm. I was nine and my parents wouldn't let me watch it so I had to flip channels when they came into the room. Good times...

Hell to the yeah, Reaper Cloud! Two of the other things I loved about Freddy's Nightmares being on was when before the episode aired, there was always a "Viewer Discretion Is Advised" warning on TV which showed clips of NOES4, so right away I knew it was gonna be good! Who knew the former KUTP 45 would do that for most shows these days?

The other thing was during the episode, the "Freddy Hotline" was plugged where you would have to pay $2.49/minute to hear Freddy tell some of his nightmares. Of course, I never did that as I was a kid and my parents would've kicked my ass, but it still brings back memories.

Boy, TV was so great back in the day!! Channel 15 and later KUTP also introduced me to the 1966 Batman series(uncut and all). Love it!

KDVR Fox 31 in Denver. Don't remember the EXACT time, except I think it was at 11pm or midnight.

I don't know the time in Wisconsin here but I bet it was late night Sat or Sun. Though maybe Sunday as I would've remembered it being on a Sat since I stayed awake late. Likely on UPN or WGN affiliate of Chicago station I'd guess.

And not a single commercial at the time was promoted to Freddy's show. I didn't even know of the show until now. I'm watching the Freddy Legacy documentary and they said a lot was cut, knowing it was to risky for syndication. They said it was low budget, anything goes deal. One director said he shot nudity and gore for fun knowing it would never be aired. The doc is on Netflix streaming now and runs about 4 hours long covering the history.

Was there no commercials?

I remember there being some commercials at the beginning and maybe for the first two episodes, but after that it wasn't really promoted that much. Airing at 11pm (opposite Saturday Night Live for the most part) didn't help and the controversy kinda neutered that as well. I do remember that as the show went on it was pushed further and further back on the schedule until it was airing at either 12:30am or 1:30am. I was ten/eleven at the time so when I would sneak down to watch SNL I would often fall asleep, then wake up to whatever episode was playing. Scared the hell out of me but as I see it now it's a bit silly to do so.

TV was weird back in the '80s. You would have all these independent stations doing their own thing. While a lot of them became Fox stations, that was back when Fox only did primetime programming and the stations still had some degree of autonomy. That entire year leading up to Freddy's Nightmares had a few channels in my area doing 'premieres' of Nightmare on Elm Street 3 that were uncut to some extent. Good times.

I remember it like it was yesterday. It aired on the local Fox station in the tri-state area, at about 11pm ET. The 1st time eps. I had seen was the "Sister's Keeper" episode. It was so eerie and intriguing that I kept watching, and then the ending scared me, I wasn't able to sleep that night lol.
