Hallmark Channel Removing Empty Nest Effective This Weekend

The network still has the rights to air the series, but it's unknown if/when it will return.

from what I understand it just started showing season 5 last weekend, or maybe the one before that,

They had gotten right to the middle of season 5, episode 5-14 of 26 for that season was the last to air on Sunday.

I hope it comes back soon. They pulled it off the air a week after they first started airing it in March and and it was off for 3 weeks. They brought it back on April 3 and aired 8 episodes in one day then immediately pulled it again for another month. When it came back in early May it was relegated to Saturdays and Sundays in the early mornings.

I've been recording the episodes since it first started airing and was hoping to get the entire series recorded.

Can I ask a stupid question? ... Better than anyone I know!

The good news is that are some complete episodes of EN and Nurses available on YouTube. Granted, they're not the best quality. But they're still a pleasure to watch.

I'm sick of Hallmark playing games with this show! I set the DVR and missed half of the episodes because of last minute schedule changes. Now they end it midway through the season! I was looking forward to the episodes with Sophia! I hope they put the entire series on DVD soon!

Completely mind boggling. After all the scheduling nonsense they pull the series after this short a time? I just don't get it. They still own the rights. At least that's a good sign. But more I Love Lucy? Seriously?

I DVRed blocks of Empty Nest episodes only to find later on that I Love Lucy and Frasier aired instead and that's what was on my DVR. I love I Love Lucy, but I have seen those episodes. I really wanted to see more Empty Nest. I really enjoy the show and had never seen it until its Hallmark airings.

Hallmark Channel needs to at least finish airing the series. We need to see Sophia, Dr. Maxine Douglas and the return of Barbara in the finale! For such a wholesome company Hallmark seems to like messing with our heads. Not fair Hallmark Channel ... not fair at all.

I wondered if they pulled the show off the aire because they thought it was racy. I mean Barbra did have her share of men and it was implied that they slept together or had talk in that direction. But, if thats the case then how do they explain airing a show like Frasier? His show is far more suggestive than Empty Nest. Frasier is always in his bath robe the next morning talking to whatever woman spent the night. I'm no prude, I watch Nip Tuck and The Shield and they get way more dirty than these two shows- but what I am saying is- IF they think Empty Nest doesnt match their wholesome line-up, then they need to re-think Frasier too.

They have run I Love Lucy to death. Also I am tired of Golden Girls. I dont see why these shows couldnt have gotten the 3AM time slots for the people that cant sleep and will watch anything to keep from watching infomercials. Then leave Empty Nest to the daytime housewives who are home and would enjoy this show and would probably deliver the ratings the network is after.

I do wonder how long they will run Lucy, Golden Girls & Little House on the Prairie.

If that was the reason, they wouldn't show Golden Girls 4-6 hours a day for the last 5-6 years. Everything you described about Barbara can be said about Blanche, too.

I'm not watching Hallmark channel again till Empty Nest comes back!! I MIS THIS SHOW SO MUCH! I HAVEN'T SEEN IT SINCE 1999 WHEN IT USE TO BE ON WGN! When I found out it was coming back to TV in February after a 11 or 12 yr absence of this yr I WAS SO PSYCHED!! I have all of seasons 1-4 on DVD cept I'm missing Harry's Got A Gun cause my DVR screwed up the day it was suppose to record it! And half of Season 5! I'M SO TICKED OFF THAT THEY TOOK OFF EMPTY NEST!! THIS BLOWS!!!!!
