Where is the house?

Does anybody know where the house is that is used for exterior shots (including during the credits)? I know the house exterior was re-created on a studio set, but that set was based on a real house, and I've heard it's in Beverly Hills or Bel Air. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

No, the exterior WAS across the street from that of the Golden Girls' house at the Disney-MGM Studios in Florida, but they have both since been demolished to make room for expansions.

That is such a sad thing to read.

When I was in Florida I went to the MGM studios at Disney. Both homes were on the MGM back-lot.

The Empty Nest and Golden Girls homes at Disney MGM were copies of the actual houses that are located in Los Angeles. The Golden Girls house is on Saltair Ave. in Brentwood and the empty nest House is located near Bel Air, Ca. Even though the facades were torn down the real homes they were based on still exist.

I still haven't found the real house upon which the facade built on the studio lot was based. You say that it is "located near Bel Air." Do you have more specific info? Do you know that actual street the house is on, or is what you stated just an assumption based on information gleaned from the Internet? I'd really like to find the real deal! Any help would be great. Thanks.

Incorrect! The Golden Girls began shooting in 1985, years before the Disney-MGM studio was built. Yes, it's treu that the Golden Girls and Empty Nest houses were on the Disney-MGM backlot for a long time, but these were NOT the 'real' houses seen on tv. These were fakes made especially for the tour. That said, 'Vern's house' from Ernest Saves Christmas was also on the Disney-MGM tour and that WAS the house used in the film seeing as Ernest Saves Christmas was shot in 1988 right before the park opened to the public and it was the first movie to shoot on that backlot.

The actual house that the facade was based on is located at 1457 Jonesboro Drive in the Brentwood neighborhood in Los Angeles.
