Gyrth Chalice

Is is just me or did I totally miss the significance of the Gyrth Chalice?

At first I was thinking it was the Holy Grail and linked to the Crusades, but I not sure now.

I think the Chalice was something like a MacGuffin (?sp). It's what all the players can focus upon.

I thought Holy Grail too except it was only 1000 years old.

It was one of a number of artifacts, the possession of which, would prove the family's right to their title.

I've found the CAMPION stories to be structured very differently from just about any other mysteries I've ever seen, and I've needed to watch each one AT LEAST twice before I can really "connect the dots" of the plots.

"FLOWERS FOR THE JUDGE" was the most difficult for me to follow.

Fortunately, like the Timothy Hutton / Maury Chaykin "NERO WOLFE" series, the stories are told in such a delightful way, half the time it doesn't bother me if I find them difficult to follow.
