Nobody ever told Lung that his daughter is dead.

The original cut of this film was 160 minutes long, the studio forced Woo to shorten the length of the movie one week before its official release in Hong Kong. As the result, many important scenes had to be gone. The theatrical version (also the only version that's available on home video) is about 104 minutes: almost an hour of footage was cut from the original version.
I am sure you can tell that the first half of the theatrical version shows heavy sign of bad editing. For example: During the scene when Ho makes a long distance phone call to ask for Ken's help to save Lung, the theatrical version only shows his phone call being put on hold and we never actually see Ken answering the phone call.
