"Withnail & I" title meaning?
I get the title which is clear, but the name Whithnail?
Withnail? This is the only time I've ever heard this name. I guess it's made up for the movie but why?
I think it's based on someone the director knew. It was not supposed to be a Christian name. It's his surname and they're using it familiarly. Sort of like, "Hey Smith! Get over here!".
