You'd be surprised at how many repressed people have had a past, i.e. clothes, that are hidden deep in their closet. She probably had the clothes and finally decided to bring them out.
It's not too far off, good sex with a man who makes you feel confident is quite liberating and can change a person seemingly "overnight".
Yes, I agree with the above. I did not get the impression Jane was necessarily having a drastic make-over, but more (like a lot of women who get to 40 ish) suddenly find themselves in a situation where it's easier to wear the same types of clothes, never go out (as the women state they don't in the film), so have no cause to dress up. Then the hair stops being styled, and it's pulled back into a ponytail, the reading classes stay on (as it's easier than continually looking for them) and there is no point wearing daily make-up ect. Jane had not let herself go, but she had slowly become too sensible. Suddenly Darryl reminds her who she actually is (via the music/seduction scene). In effect, all the character has done is make an appointment at a hair salon and ask them to perm and colour her hair a brighter red. She then stops wearing a bra and starts wearing more casual or dressy outfits - which she probably always had in her wardrobe. Her biggest changes comes in the confidence she suddenly finds again. She stops worrying what people think about her.
