Emily Lloyd

Ms. Lloyd is fantastic in this movie. She is absoloutely adorable, funny and very sexy. I was sure she was going to be a big star, but in never happened for her. She's still around making movies. Her latest is a Ken Russel film. I wrote to her
back in the 90s and received a wonderful letter from her and a beautiful autographed photo!

I totally agree with you...Emily Lloyd is a wonderful and very talented actress, and I have been thinking of writing to her as well. I just read your post and was amazed that you said Emily replied to your letter! Please can you tell me the address you sent your letter to so I can check if it is the same one as mine?

Many Thanks

I suppose that the acting talent is in her blood with her Dad being such a good actor. Although Roger Lloyd Pack is best known for Trigger in 'Only Fools and Horses', he can do serious roles very well too.

I totally agree with you Harbormystic. I also thought there were big movie parts for her just around the corner, but it just didn't materialise. She is still a wonderful actress to me though.

She lives in the same road as me in East London. I'm a huge fan of hers but haven't said anything to her yet, she seems very lost when I see her.

I thought the same as some of the other posters. I thought her performance in this film would springboard her to huge stuff.

She did do that "Cookie" with Peter Falk after this but that was poor.

I also heard she accepted the lead role in "TankGirl" but then changed her mind and chucked it. She got criticized for that I think but in the end it turned out to be a wise move cos TankGirl was heavily panned.

Either way it just never seemed to happen for her which is a real shame.

Unless she wanted it like that of course.

i just watched this film again for the first time in years and was once more struck by emily's incredible performance. the way she brings the character of Linda to life so confidently yet showing such vulnerability is amazing. Its a shame she never made it big, this is still one of my favourite films.

When I saw this wonderful movie, I felt the exact same way. :)

But, yeah, fame didn't happen for her the way it should've. But this is still one of the best movies I've ever seen!

Hello, I like movies! :)

Agree 100% harbormystic. Superb performance. I don't think It's an exaggeration to say this is one of the great performances of British Cinema. Actually, make that Cinema in general. I also wondered why she didn't go on to great things.
Did a little googling to try and find out more about her career and it seems that she has suffered various psychological problems which have prevented her from making the most of her talent. Very sad to hear, I hope she is able to keep things together enough to extend her career and treat us all to a little more of her huge talent.

I'm sorry to hear about her psychological problems. Apparently she has obsessive-compulsive disorder. You certainly can't tell it from her performances. Emily Lloyd was poised to be the breakout star of the late '80s, then she seemed to vanish just as fast as she seemed to appear on the scene.

I didn't even know she was British until now because she's played Americans in most of the other films I've seen her in ("Cookie," "In Country").

Agreed. Emily Lloyd is simply terrific as the brash and vibrant Lynda.
