Bacon was a total dick.

I get the whole nature thing but when alan made the fish catching thing it was smart. Bacon was just being a dick. His character was annoying.

I'll give you that he was a dick about the fish, but other than that I don't think he was a jerk. He was just trying to push Alan beyond his limits to show him that he could do it every time he whined "I can't do it!". Kids today could greatly benefit from an experience like that today. These days everyone gets a pat on the back for doing less than is expected.

Alan was the problem, not Vic.

Kids today would not make it through the first day of something like this. Honestly, I think an hour without cell phone reception would drive them out of their minds

Honestly if I were Alan back then I would have had my parents sue Vic when I got back. He put lives in danger and basically threatened to kill someone.. I forget the character's name but it was after the mountain swing scene whe Vic held that kid over the cliff and said this wasn't acceptable behavior. Vic was crazy..

Alan was just a spoiled brat. Coddled too much by his rich parents. Vic was no prize either. I think everyone got tired of Alan after a while.

Alan's trick was good but overall he's the bigger dick of the two. There's five people who went on this trip. Alan was really the one trying to break the expectations of the others. Vic displayed how the trip was suppose to go at the beginning, Alan did a lot of things to sabotage experience.

Alan wasn't forced to go. He was just too much of a child to come out and say that it wasn't how he wanted to spend his free time. Sure, his parents may have been inflexible (there was no clear indication of this) but it wasn't up to Alan to be resentful of their desires by ruining the trip for everyone else.

Had Alan accepted his place in the group and cooperated with the rest of the group everything would probably have gone relatively fine.
