I'm surprised no one's written anything about her. I know, of course, she's much older now, but at the time this movie was made, she was deliciously sexy and (excuse the pun) udderly desirable.
Watching her in the bath scene, made me want to bite my radio! Grrrr!

shareWhen I saw Greta Scacchi in FESTIVAL IN CANNES (2001) back in 2003, I was astonished had how she aged. Her beauty had proved ephemeral. True, Greta dressed down for the role and apparently that included very minimal makeup which was supposed to be part of her character, a wise actress who knows she's aging and is moving into a post-acting career of directing.
I'm not a fan of Greta but I'm not against her. I remember how absolutely gorgeous she was in her prime. I give her credit for being tough and brave. She cracked her back vertebrae while horse riding for the film WHITE MISCHIEF. But she bravely pushed on, not slowing or stopping filming and continuing to act in excruciating pain. If you look carefully in the film, her face looks different that it does from the beginning of the movie. She was doing her best to conceal the biting pain in her back but her face showed it.
I also agree - Greta Scacchi has natural sex appeal, not manufactured by Hollywood. What makes her stand out is that she's curvy - she's not all skin & bones like a lot of others actresses.

In other words, she was a normal human being. What a surprise (please note sarcasm). They are actors people, not robots. Stop expecting so much and you won't be so disappointed.

Have you seen Coca Cola Kid? Another fine performance by Greta, Obscure film, based on an even obsucred short story by Frank ???. Worth checking out for Greta even you have to put up with Eric Roberts (whom I can't stand but is at his most tolerable in this film- as opposed to, say, Pope of Greenwich Village (gag me)).

Agreed she is a classic beauty.
The hair and make-up was beautifully done. Kudos to make-up dept. v pretty makeup
(with a little leeway given due to the fact that I know they didn't have anti-frizz products for hair back when this movie was made)
She was (and is) stunning. Why did she not work more?-higher profile meh sometimes choice sometimes happen-stace but she should have been in the field with Stone and really Helen Mirren.
I really wanna know what the actual red lipstick color they used on her during filming. Its more of a blue-red than an orange-red and coloring wise I NEED it. lol
