Saw it in the theater in 87

i remember seeing in in theaters. i loved this movie right off

it was also a favorite rental of mine ever since. i recall renting it many times in the late 80s and early 90s.... the heyday of vhs stores!!! lol

for some reason, this one made a huge impression. to me, it represents the era well, late 80s action. kinda over the top in places, but doesn't matter since it is done well and entertaining. not totally realistic, but fans love it anyway.

i think this was the best period for action films, before CGI took over and when stories still had importance. the writing was better then, mostly. oh yeah now and then you get a well written one these days, but it's an exception.

i am putting together a list of action films in this same era that clicked with me personally. it won't be comprehensive, but just a fun list of ones i remember seeing at the time. i will return and post a link later

cheers

Haven't seen this movie, but I'm a Rutger Hauer fan. And I agree with you, the late 80's was the best period for action movies. They had a heart back then. These days they're just all about the CG and 3D. Story and acting doesn't matter anymore.

yeah man, true. the actors and stories were great. it's too bad, to see it all go down hill.

in the past few years i have kinda switched over to british and other foreign movies b/c i think the work is better.

but the 80s will never come back
