Was Ness too much of a hot-head?

Or someone, who too often lets his emotions immediately get the best of him, to be an effective and/or pragmatic leader. Like after Oscar got killed, he storms into the hotel where Capone is staying and tries to bait a confrontation with him. Just forgetting the fact that Ness is by himself and Al Capone has a swarm of bodyguards, and is a "Bad Guy with Good Publicity" (as TV Tropes would say).

And then of course, there's the way that he disposed Frank Nitti after gloating to him about gunning down Malone and boasting that he's going to beat the rap.

You must like talking to yourself because you answered your own question throughout your whole post. Some people just don’t belong on messages boards

reply

What kind of fucking response is that!? What do you mean that some people just don't belong on message boards? As if you're any better yourself!

reply

Just pointing out the obvious since you don’t comprehend it. It’s pretty sad, really.

reply

You're pointing out nothing since you won't elaborate on what exactly you mean on how I must be talking to myself. So if I'm recapping what happened in the movie that must mean that I'm just pointing out the obvious!?

Lol

Asked and answered...

He grew up, basically.

Which Ness, the real one or the pretend one?

reply

I would say no. He starts as a straight arrow good guy who transgresses his own code in response to the corruption and violence he has to battle against. Which come to think of it reminds me of Mississippi Burning.
But you could easily interpret it differently as someone so rooted in self-belief that all measures are justifiable.
