Sean Connery hated Kevin Costner

Not sure if he despised him, but I could see how his *beep* attitude would really not suit well with Costner's pomposity.

After watching Andy Garcia's AFI Tribute to Sean Connery, I'm wondering if what Garcia heard Connery say "Maybe you don't have enough intelligence" about his fellow actor was really about Costner... I wouldn't be surprised. Malone suffers no fools.

Really ? Connery hated Costner ? I wonder why.

Remember, there might be some MOMENTARY DISCOMFORT.

reply

Probably b/c Costner thought he was the beez-neez and cocky... "I'm playing the lead role"... "I'm good looking"... "Sean Connery needs to defer to me"... and the fact that he's not really that great of an actor.

Do you know that for certain ? Do you know for certain that Connery did hate Costner ?.

and the fact that he's not really that great of an actor.

Neither is Connery.

reply

This is complete BS; not only have I seen Connery in interview defending Costner's performance in the film but his cameo appearance in Prince of Thieves was done purely as favour to Costner as they'd previously enjoyed working together.

reply

Ah right, thank you for confirming this, I hadn't heard of any tension between Connery and Costner.

Remember, there might be some MOMENTARY DISCOMFORT.

reply

This post should be machine gunned down. What pure BS.

reply

@pablo-taylor Good point - if Connery really hated Costner then he would've stayed away from Prince Of Thieves. That cameo was about the only thing I remember from that movie too, lol.

reply

Don't believe everything you read about what happens during filming. Some people are jealous and others have an agenda to bring down people or movies.

Seriously just go watch the movie and stop analyzing celeb relationships.
It is a waste of time.
and you care too much about people you don't even know.

reply

But the fact is that as soon as Connery enters the film, he takes over as a lead actor, with or without the permission of anyone.

reply

He carries the movie.

When I played golf with them they seemed to get along just fine!

"if seagal was thinner this could have been a theatrical product."

reply

Umm...who *doesn't* hate Costner?? Ever wonder why ANYBODY even knows his name at all? Just look at ANY and ALL of the *other* actors in his movies. He should just stick to what he knows....balding and bagels.

reply

Well I don't particularly like Costner either but I don't see why he should be hated just because he isn't a great actor.

Remember, there might be some MOMENTARY DISCOMFORT.

reply

and you should stick to what you *beep* underage monkeys according to your name.
when you direct blockbuster movies and have millions of dollars you earned yourself then maybe youd have some right to speak ...but then no cause well you enjoy *beep* monkeys

reply

Sean Connery's a wife-beater, isn't he?

Never let your sense of morals prevent you from doing what is right.

Yes, yes he is.

I have come here to chew bubble gum and kick ass, and I'm all out of bubble gum.

ja ja

reply

He's not a wife beater. It's not a beating if it's done with an open hand as opposed to a clenched fist!

Besides, if the circumstances merit it, like if you've tried everything else and a woman can't leave it alone, like when they want to have the last word, and you give them the last word, but they're not happy with the last word and want to say it again and get into a really provocative situation, then it's absolutely right...

You remember that, ladies!

reply

Not as well as you remember the number 911 and to dial it immediately if any man dares raise a hand to you, ladies! life is too short to waste a moment of it humoring impotent bully-boys like the distinguished lasvegasira--

reply

@lavesgasira
A real man would walk away in any situation before hitting a lady.
Not that some women don't deserve a good beatting, but in my opinion a man who is capable to hit a woman only proves weekness of character.

And about the topic
I think it's BS, I had never heard such rummors before. I quite enjoy Costner's Ness and Connery's presence in the film added a much distinguishable flavour, a good flavour.

Circumstances NEVER merit a man striking a woman. Period.

If you think they do, then you are a weak, pathetic coward. But bullies seem to excel at being weak, pathetic and cowardly.

If you need to resort to violence and assault when a woman is contentious, or has "to have the last word", then you're nothing more than an insecure Mama's boy without any impulse control who doesn't have a clue what it means to be a real man.

reply

And acting like women are always victims is not okay either. I have been followed, chased, door hammered by a female and seriously? What Sean said was “if you KEEP ON COMING I Will eventually stop you. A grown man or woman should not have to keep ‘running away’ to every area of the house to make it stop. At some point the other person becomes responsible! Think about it for gosh sake

reply

lasvegasira, you know that, in most forms of karate, the hand is open, right? Just like when you wipe the shit off of your head. Now, write this a million times: "I am a cowardly, emotionally stunted, misogynistic little fucking asshole."

EDIT: I wrote this as soon as I saw the offending post, and not the subsequent ones. I just had to. I did not intend to be redundant. I just saw red. I applaud all of you whose sentiments I share. And I want to make it clear that I am a women-loving man. Real men show real love and real respect, as do real women.

reply

i laughed at garcia's stories about connery. "it's not hamlet" ha ha

reply

I actually recall way back in 1987 in an interview where Connery said he thought Costner's performance in this film was exceptional. Doesn't sound like hate to me!

reply

They couldn't have hated each other too much as they teamed up again four years later for the final scenes of Robin Hood.

reply

That's disheartening to hear. I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Costner once on the set of Tin Cup and he was incredibly nice and down to earth, but then again I didn't *work* with him or anything. Hrm.

"Guess she don't like the cornbread either..."

reply

As others have stated, Connery and Costner had a blast working together on The Untouchables. That is why Connery agreed to the cameo in Robin Hood. Supposedly the weekend after that cameo was shot Costner and Connery played golf.

Some of you need to realize that when you are gullible enough to listen to retards like the OP, you come off like retards, yourselves! lol

Please, don't insult retards with such comparisons! I'd go with "troglodytes."
