But These 'McCarthy Hearings' WERE Necessary


Unlike the RED SCARE trials, these guys, as great as they are characters in a very good film (a better BL movie than RAIN MAN), deserved to be checked up and taken to court being how they basically lied and swindled poeple...

I wonder if Rodney Dangerfield worked in this fashion... He actually made his initial million or two as a Tin Man and that's how he bought the comedy clubs that really rolled in the bucks and so, by the time he became a movie star in 1980 he was a comedy mogul of sorts...

Anyhow... back to the point... I think these fellas deserved going to trial and yet it was shown as being very much like the extremely unfair McCarthy hearings...

Well to be fair, they were just salesmen who were in fact lying to get their sales.

But because they're the title protagonists of the film, Levinson's careful to portray their lies as essentially harmless, i.e., they weren't lying about the actual product.
