Back around this time I started watching a lot of foreign movies. Thank God we had a lot of artsy-type theaters that showed foreign movies. It is really enlightening to see that not all movies have to be violent, car crash, super-hero or lame special effects movies.

Also good are the older American movies, especially the pre-Code movies, back when America has a real personality and was not just a corporate composite of advertising demographics.

Whatever any other country does is always better than what we do here. In those other countries, they just have this special gnosis that makes everything they do magical, while we in the U.S. are just crass and dumb. I don't know why we even bother to make movies.
