collge moveis of the 80's vs college movies of the 2000s

actually not much has changed in terms of coming og age college /teen movies. You still have the nice guy, the nice girl, the nerd, the jock, the cheerleader, and the whacky parents, but let me clarify things a bitg more.

The 80's followed the social upheavel of the 60's and 70's. so the idea of making a movie with "social commentary" was put on the backburner in exchange for nude scenes (mostly featuring women), guys getting into whacky situations and lusting after that one girl they just cant get. No one discussed consequences of actions and every movie ended on a good note.

Movies of the 2000's are all about social commentary. but theres a more ruthless aspect to it. In the 80's you knew what you were going to get when you saw a film , which was the benefit and downfall of 80s moives.

The movies of the 2000s contain less nudity and sex in exchange for disgusting simulations of flatuence and everything else which comes out of the back end of a person. Theres not much comedy to it, its just one fart joke after another. Theres no subelty.

i think thats why the movies of today dont stay in the theater that long. At least teen wolf too had a decent run in the thaaters (it was in the theaters about five weeks) vs some of the so called blockbusters of today which cant stay in a theater over two week.

Now granted many major changes have hapened to movies outside of the writing and acting. With inventions like the internet, downloading, file sharing, and DVD, alot of what brought people into the theaters in the 80's doesnt exist anymore. In the 80's you had to wait almost a year for a movie to come out on video. Now, all you have to do is wait a couple of months. So box office take is less than in the 80's.

The battle of which movies are better between 80's movies and the movies of the 2000's , I guess we have to leave that to personal opinion. You like what you like, dont apologize for it. I'm a fan of 80's movies and am part of the 80's preservation society.

70's and 80's college movies where always alot more fun.

I dunno if there has been any college movies i've seen in the last 10 years that I liked apart from American Pie. But even American pie lands arse over tit when compared to Animal House.

What was with that absolute CRAP they called OLD SCHOOL?
I also think stoner comedies suck these days. The only decent one of the recent years has been Half Baked. But are nothign compared to Up In Smoke.

And plus, the film would've been R in the theaters, Unrated on DVD, and had Bateman making crass statements like, "Yeah, man, when I turned into the wolf, she still had more hair on her pu ssy than I had on my whole face!"

Today's college and high school stuff tries too hard, and makes the characters into hormonal sociopaths.

College movies use to make it seem fun and like a big party. Now it's studying and trying to win a girl
