Thank you, Spalding.

Saw "Swimming To Cambodia" a number of years ago and was enthralled by Gray's
passion/disgust for the war.Too bad he didn't enter politics, cause he would have shown the futility and stupidity of American involvement in outside worlds.
R.I.P. Mr. Gray
You shall not see any more decay
Heaven is a better place
It's not controlled by America

Anyone have an opinion on Spalding Gray's death? Was it really a suicide?
You've gotta wonder... after this film...

I saw Spalding perform live a few times since the 80's. He was totally enthralling and quite an inspiration to me. I saw him last at PS 122 in Manhattan. He was in a serious car crash in Ireland and sustained a lot of damage to his body. He was clearly not the same. The depression he suffered was too much for him to deal with despite having a loving family and tons of admirers. I believe sadly that he killed himself. The world is diminshed somewhat by his passing.

"The world is diminshed somewhat by his passing."

The world WAS diminished GREATLY by his passing.

I've been a fan since S.T.C. was released, and I met the man once. He was a greatly depressed genius, and we all will miss him, even if we don't realize it yet.

Rest in peace, my friend. I pray you find the peace you so richly deserve.

I love Spalding Gray, but I do you really think he would make a great statesman? Great artist, but kinda neurotic and dark...

Also, it's only recently that Heaven wasn't controlled by America. The Japanese bought it...

reply

I met him in Santa Cruz, whilst he was honing what would become "Gray's Anatomy." Nice man.

And of course, no surprise to see England manager Sven-Göran Eriksson in the crowd
