'R' Rating?

Why was Suspect rated "R"? I would think that if it were released today, it would get a "PG-13" rating.

At the time of release the word FiretrUCK was enought to warrant a "R" rating

There was the bit where Dennis Quaid's charactr flipped over the tramp, and his throat was gashed. That kinda made you jump, and was unpleasant. Also, when Cher is attacked by him, and when she goes back to the court at night near the end of the film, there is 'sustained menace and threat' which is one of the reasons that entertainment like 'Lost' got a 15 rating here.

It's enough now too since there was more than one use of that word.

There's also that bit where Cher gets her tits out.

Do you really see her breasts? I don't go to movies where you see nudity and I was thinking of renting this one.

No, you don't see her breasts.

The F-word is used several times, garnering it an R rating, in addition to the violence.
But it's the multiple use of F---.

It's a GREAT movie. Just saw it for the first time in 28 years and it held up (I kept finding myself thinking, "Why aren't they using the internet to research? Why doesn't she call him on her cell?" Technology has come so far...).
