Someone should remake this. Seriously.

Okay, I know that a lot of you are going, "WTF?!" but seriously, now that camp movies like SoaP are being made (and totally rock), I think this could be re-done. However, in order for it to be successfully remade, the following conditions must be fulfilled:

1. No Smeg. He was a retarded character and the whole thing of him sneaking out at night to go be a Nazi was pathetic. ("I thought we got rid of this Adolf crap.")
2. Focus on Leroy's Mama. She can totally rock the screen, as long as she has some sweet weapons and the actress knows how to handle the props.
3. Develop Leroy's character before he dies and explain HOW he died for more effect.
4. More ninjas/kung-fu.
5. Play up the social and political atmosphere on the beach that results in post-apocalyptic California. Develop an infastructure for the rival gangs to hook audiences into an atmosphere, not just a concept.
6. More attractive women in skimpy bathing suits. For a troma movie set on the beach, the original had a pitiful lack of eye-candy.
7. If there is going to be a character with a hook, he should use it in more awesome ways, and he probably shouldn't try to surf with it. He should also pick a hook and stick with it! No more stupid hook-changing scenes.
8. Adolf has to be really really cool and sinister if he is going to get away with dressing up in wet suits and calling himself Adolf.

I seriously think this could work. A movie with a title like Surf Nazis Must Die! has so much potential.

"Groovy."

I just saw this, and I liked it very much, but it lost out on so much potential. And I thought about remaking it too, and if I ever get to making movies, I will remake this. Your changes are good, though I think Smeg should stay, maybe he should be a girl the next time around, especially if I keep the name "Smeg". I'll probably leave out the surfing. If I, or anyone else never remakes this, it's still almost a masterpeice considering the music alone, it's great!

Actually, I've come up with an idea for a fan sequal that takes place on Hatteras Island (where I'm from).

The plot: After the first ever Catagory 6 Hurricane obliterates Hatteras Island, a new band of Surf Nazis take control. After they kill a local cop, his grandmothers (maternal and fraternal, ICYDN), one a free-spirited earth child and the other a devout Methodist, grab some shotguns and go after the Surf Nazis.

I thought about this idea aswell and thought it would be a good project for Troma.
My idea however is leave out Leroy and Mama. Make the movie all about the Surf Nazis rise of power. Follow their attempt to take over the beaches and rule all. Seeing as they are the villians they will loose in the end, but not after taking control of the majority of the beaches and exterminating the rival gangs.

I agree that the movie should focus on the social and political feel of the gangs.

If done correctly this movie could be better than the orignal (which is rare with remakes)

MORE LEROYS MOMMA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She's the reason i love this movie. I like the original the remake would probably be *beep* up like all other remkes of movies like that.

You could basically base the Surf Nazis on a hyped up version of the Lunda Bay Boys surf gang that's been in the news lately. The community is finally standing up to these "trust fund thugs" that have controlled that area of LA County surf for years.

I don't know. They're already remaking enough stuff.

Robert Rodriguez would do wonders with a remake for this movie.

Idk, this is a little too 80s, for it to work these days :p

Once upon a time (1964-1980), there was a real market for exploitation films.

Then there wasn't.

Once upon another time (1980-1989), there was a real market for parodies of exploitation films (that traded in irony).

Now, there is no market for either.

I don't pretend to know the cultural forces at work that makes this so, but it is so, whether we like it or not.

Joe Bob Briggs used to say (on his Saturday night TNT shows) that "The Drive-In will never die". Unfortunately, he was just being optimistic. Fact is, the Drive-In is dead.

Sorry.

Cable TV is a hungry beast & must be fed. Am I the only guy who puts on whatever is on the Epix Drive-In channel & expects first-rate cheese?
Eventually they'll wear out their copy of Surf Nazis & want something new... Surf Nazis versus ISIS fighters! It'll be great!
