It look like you guys had fun in the movie.

reply

I have probably seen this movie about 100 times but I cannot remember the character Go-Go. Please help me out here. What did you do that was memorable in the film?

reply

Well, I really did like the movie. Anyway, the sond is actually "Beef Baloney" by Fear. It's on the album "Fear - The Record." It's a different recording of it. Also the singer from Fear was Lee Ving who has acted in many movies including playing Mr. Body in Clue.

reply

Beef & Bologna is also one of the songs that they played in their (now infamous) Saturday Night Live set after which they became the first (and the last) band to ever be thrown off the show.

reply

The character "Go-Go" is only mentioned by name once if I recall correctly. Right before the boys go to the Girls Camp and announce that they've taken over.

Am I Insane? YES!!

reply

Ahh... "King Ham" was the drummer during that musical vignette of the "Horned Dogs". There was a pasty white kid far off in the background playing keyboards. I never heard of a Go-Go either.

reply

"Beef, beef, beef.....beef bologna!"

That is pretty much all I remember from SUMMER CAMP NIGHTMARE. I laughed til I cryed!

That's a FEAR song????

Lee Ving was also in THE WILD LIFE.

I just got a copy of Summer Camp Nightmare from my wife ... she found it on ebay for me and gave it to me as a suprise. I am a huge fan of obscure 80's flicks ... I love them all and cherish them as part of my youth. No mattr how cheesy these movies look today, I hold movies like S.C.N. in high regard because they're the movies I grew up on. Aside from the famous "Beef Baloney" performance, I also vividly remember when John Mason had to cross the rope bridge hanging by hs hands as punishment for being accused of rape. This twist in the movie (the rape) was what really made this movie bizarre. It came out of NOWHERE! The first 3 minutes of the movie are really campy like an old NBC Famly Movie of The Week ... then it turns into a rape-case and murder story.

Bizarre! ... but my nostalgia for my youth makes me love this flick!

TO THE REVOLUTION!!!

Since you have the movie maybe you can help solve a mystery for my sister and I. In the scene where the girl with the long long dark hair is dancing by herself in the rec room all sexy and all the men are watching - what was the song playing then? We can not remember. She thinks it's the White Horse song. Is she right....

Thanks for any help.

reply

No, it wasn't White Horse. It does sound similar though. It is just a generic 80's song produced for the soundtrack. As far as I can tell, all music was written for SCN.

My little brother and I (now in our 30's) used to sing that song! We would rent Summercamp Nightmare and Rad and snack on Pop Rocks and Big Red and then bounce off the walls singing...

BEEF! BEEF! BEEF!
Beef bolagna
She don't want no chicken
She don't want no roast
She just wants my double dose of the
BEEF! BEEF! BEEF!
Beef bolagna

all while grabbing our crotch. LOL! Where were my parents?

ROFLMAO!!!!!!!!
You and, every 9-11 year old boy on my street!

reply

Go-Go used the paint-by-numbers line. This is just before they invade the girl's camp and are scoping them out. He also puts alcohol in the Kool-Aid.

LONG LIVE THE 80'S!!!!!

reply

This was my favorite part of the whole movie!!! I wish the 80's was still here. Those were the good old hard heavy metal days!!!! : )

That Beef, Beef, Beef song still sticks in my head after all these years. My friends and I watched this movie two or three times in high school and laughed harder each time. I can't believe Chuck Connors agreed to do this. He must have really needed the money. But I agree with all that good cheesy 80's movies like this are sorely missed (at least by all of us thirtysomethings). I don't remember Go-Go either, but I checked out our fellow poster Mr. Kesten and your 80's resume is quite impressive (She's Out of Control, Diffrent Strokes, etc.) Did you leave the business for greener pastures or did the job offers dry up after starring with Tony Danza :) ?

reply

I just found out the name of this movie a few minutes ago. I watched it years ago, sometime around the late 80's. That was the last time I watched it and I didn't catch the name. Like most here the main things I remember are-

1-Beef Beef Beef
2-Leader of the camp flipping out over beef beef beef
3-Guy grabbing girl's butt and her slapping him
4-The same girl getting raped or almost raped
5-Accused rapist having to move across some ropes upside down as punishment-with the girl throwing rocks at him.
6-Black guy on top of white guy pummeling him

The best part was when the girls sang the South Pines song! I wish i knew where I could hear it again since i can never find that movie anywhere.

That song was originally done by the legendary LA punk band, FEAR in 1982. The album which it appears on is "FEAR : The Record" and is a must have punk classic! Featuring actor/ musician Lee Ving on vocals. "More Beer" is the 1985 follow-up album, and is equally as good. Get this stuff!!!! They were also the only band to be kicked off while playing on Saturday Night Live (10-31-1981) due to the punks slamming and destroying the PA speakers while on live tv. Try and find this episode (Donald Pleasance was the host). Worth watching!!!

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA That Song was the Hilight of the movie! Free Chris Wade, Free Chris Wade! The Campers have SPOKEN!!

reply

i just got this off Ebay and it was HARD...I kept getting outbid!
But god is this movie awesome! It wasnt as cheesy as I was afraid it was going to be, because when you're young, curse words and make-out scenes are like X-rated to a 10 yr old! :]
I loved it...
I have found out so many things, like the guy who played Chris Wayne died of a heroin overdose, the girl who got raped [Debbie] is played by Samantha Newark who did the voice of Jem/Jerrica Benton on my favorite cartoon, Jem & the Holograms! I KNEW her voice sounded familiar...
We are lovers of 80's camp horror movies, B-movie horror cheese, and bad vampire movies in this house so this was definitely a big deal when SCN came in the mail last week.

:]

"If you don't want to hear it, then quit asking me"

reply

WOW! I'm so suprised to see posts for this movie. I used to watch this movie so much as a 10yr old that my Stepfather took it away from me. (Along with Friday the 13th Part3 and Moving Vilations) I remember Franklin looked like an adult Little Mac from Punch-Out. That and "My names Runk...Runk the Punk."

reply

Saw this movie at least 20 times on HBO in junior high, but I could not remember the title. I remembered the title of another HBO daily showing "White Water Summer" and knew it was something similar (multiple words, Summer in the title somehow).

I just found an article about Fear and them getting banned from SNL which mentioned the song "Beef Bologna", then to Wikipedia and it had a reference to the SCN. Now I want to seek it out, even if it is just to see the talent show again. Never realized my friends and I weren't the only ones watching these movies back then. Long live the true 80's flicks!!!

reply

LOL , that's exactly the only thing I remember from that movie too.

reply

Yes, I remember precisely two things from this movie (that I watched several times in the late 80's):

"Beef, beef, beef...beef bologna!"

AND

a scene on a bridge that looked like it was constructed from 100-year old, rotted rope.

The leaves are changing colors...
