I admire Alex Cox's anarchic talent but unless you are dead drunk or you just stick to Almeria's splendid landscape, the superb Western-type scores and Joe Strummer's paranoid presence, this film will not reveal anything to you.Its so-called humor is too cruel and sadistic.Try "Sid and Nancy" or "Walker" if you want to have an idea of this director's work

I have to say that "The Wiz" is worse, but only just. "Straight To Hell" at least has one excellent song in it, which is more than you can say for "The Wiz".

I'll second that. The Wiz is such a horrible rip-off of The Wizard of Oz. Plus, the cast and songs could make anybody want to vomit.
Most movie folks have rated Ed Wood's 'Plan 9 from Outer Space' to be the worst film ever. I get a kick out of that flick, so i would put The Wiz as the worst.

The Wiz was an authorised remake of The Wizard of Oz .

Dracula 3000 was pretty bad, and I like some bad movies. Thralls. horrible (and also another vampire film). Sleepover nightmare, butterfly effect 2, roadhouse 2. What about you? what do you consider a bad film other than Straight to hell (which I really enjoy BTW).

You call this the worst movie you have ever seen or at least the one you hate the most, yet your post ends with an Ed Wood reference. How ironical you are :)

anyhow, to answer your question...I don't really have a worst Ever as I've seen so many poor movies.

Dracula 3000 comes to mind

EDIT

As I'm typing that, I came to the realization that I replied to this post 6 years ago!!!

and even said Dracula 3000 haha guess that one really does suck :)

Not that anyone will ever read this post as this is a DEAD THREAD, I will list more movies that I like that most people would think suck.

Brainscan
GameBox 1.0
Evolver
Chopping Malls
Ghost In The Machine
Stay Alive

Actually, all these are probably on my "Computers Gone Wild-Movie Genre List"

I'm 30 minutes in and loving it so far. Big Alex Cox fan though.

Yeah it's not good. It's only watchable these days for some of the music and to see some of the cast when they were young bucks. The script is pathetic, the acting dire and its attempts at humour fail miserably. Cox apparently wrote the screenplay in 4 days and it shows.

reply

I wouldn't call it the worst movie ever, but yeah it was pretty obvious it was made by a bunch of people who had a bit of money and time and just said, "Fuck it, let's make a movie. Do we have a script that's complete, and good? No. But we do have several gallons of liquor and a huge pile of coke!" I'd be lying if I said I didn't enjoy it at all, but it sure as shit was no Repo Man.

reply

I loved Cox's "Walker" so I sought this out and was completely shocked at how amateurish and worthless it was, especially considering it came out in the same year as "Walker".

reply

Cool, I have a copy of Walker here waiting in the wings. Now I'm a little more optimistic about watching it. For so many years I had no idea what Cox did after Sid & Nancy, finally getting caught up.

reply

As long as you are cool with Cox's deliberate use of anachronisms, you should enjoy Walker. It's a good 80s political commentary and also a rousing Sam Peckinpah style Latin-American adventure all in one.
